It’s no secret if you haven’t figured out by now I’m a total SHEIN.com lover. They have so many good pieces to choose from, and even designer brand dupes (duplicates). SHEIN is always trending on season, and their pricing? Can we say A-F-F-O-R-D-A-B-L-E!! I’d say at least half of my wardrobe is from them, especially all my rompers which are great for the summer! (You can see my recent SHEIN HAUL and read my latest blog post on it here!)
While I’ve always loved shopping on SHEIN, everyone has their own opinion (which you’re all entitled to). I frequently get asked for tips on shopping on SHEIN, sizing questions and if the site is legit or not. Which made me decide to write up this post. I thought I’d share with you 4 helpful tips to shopping on SHEIN. And before you read any further yes, it’s legit!
Before I jump into the tips, If you don’t know what SHEIN.com is I’ll give you a quick rundown. SHEIN is an online clothing store based out of China, and was founded in 2008. Their shopping categories are for Women, Curve and Plus, Men, Kids and Beauty, shoes and accessories included. SHEIN carries clothes, shoes and accessories very similar to Forever21, but at a more affordable price in my opinion. SHEIN is also my favorite site to shop swimwear every year come Summer time. I wrote a post about my favorite swim pieces you can read here if you haven’t already.
Most people would say you get what you pay for, and with SHEIN that’s mostly true but not entirely. Their prices are super affordable but in my opinion that doesn’t define their quality as cheap. Now will a top last you for 10+ years? That I can’t honestly tell you, but come back to my blog in about 8 years and I’ll let you know how my wardrobe has held up over the years.
Tips for shopping at SHEIN
Now that you’ve gotten an idea on what SHEIN is, let’s dive into four helpful tips to shopping their site.
1. Read the Reviews
This is probably the most helpful tip I can offer you when shopping on SHEIN (or any website really). READ THE REVIEWS!! The reviews have opinions and comments from real people who have bought the item you’re looking to buy. Lot’s of times reviewers will upload a photo so you can see how it fit them, which will also give you perspective on how it looks on a real person. They’ll also leave comments on how it fit, the material and if they loved it or not. I personally read the reviews on each piece before I purchase anything from SHEIN, or any online retailer I’m shopping.
Most of the time the reviews will make or break my decision to buy the item or not. Seeing something on a real life person makes it easier to know how it’ll look and fit yourself, rather than just seeing it on a pretty model sized specifically for that product. So, all in all read the reviews!
2. Read the Description of the Item
There are two main things I look at when it comes to the description of an item on SHEIN: Fabric and Fit Type. By reading these descriptions you should get the general idea on how the item will fit.
Fabric – Tells you the material of the item.
Fit Type – Tells you if the item will fit Regular or Oversized.
In the description of an item there are multiple things it’ll tell you, these are just the two I mainly look for myself. I find reading descriptions, along with the reviews is really helpful to determine whether something is going to shrink, stretch or show every crease and crevice you have going on. I used to size up on everything I ordered from SHIEN, but quickly noticed most things would be too big. So I started reading the reviews, and descriptions and if it has stretch to it I stick to my true size, if there’s no stretch I usually size up.
3. Promo Codes
This one is my favorite tip of all. As you know I love anything affordable, and while SHEIN is affordable already there’s usually always a Promo Code available. There’s also daily points you can earn when you ‘Check In’ to their app and other ways to collect points you can read them here. Those points then add up to dollar amounts to take off a future purchase. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love seeing the price drop lower and lower before checking out! There’s also free shipping on any orders over $49 and you get 10& off your first order!
4. Order Early if You have a Special Occasion
SHEIN’s average shipping time is usually about 1-2 weeks. Every order I’ve purchased usually comes right around a week and a half. Except this one time I had a Christmas Party and I ordered a dress the first week of December, it got stuck in the holiday transit and came late. (Don’t worry, a new outfit was picked, and I still looked bomb AF) So, like most places holiday season orders get backed up. So, if there’s a special occasion you’re shopping for I would order at least 3 weeks prior just to be on the safe side.
This Tie Die Romper that I wore on a trip to New Hampshire quickly became my favorite, I ordered it in all 3 colors!
I hope the tips I shared are helpful and make your shopping on SHEIN easier. These are some of the things I do each time I shop the site to find a bomb ass outfit. Let me know in the comments below if you do the same, if you have any questions or if you try these and they helped.
Happy Shopping!

I love shopping at Shein.com and I’ve noticed that is getting more popular. Because of the pandemic, everybody is online shopping and they have great stuff my only additional tip is that you always go a size up.
I just ordered my first clothing haul from SHEIN! I was so surprised about how much I liked the clothing! I do admit, I should have read this beforehand because there definitely were a few tops and pants that I have to send back due to not fitting correctly.. but we live and we learn! Thanks so much for this!
